Menu Categories
Menu Categories are how you group related items on your menu — for example Appetizers, Main Courses, Drinks, or Desserts. Organising your items into clear categories makes your menu easier for customers to browse on every connected channel, and keeps your menu tidy as it grows.
Why use categories?
- Easier browsing — customers find what they want faster when items are grouped logically.
- A cleaner menu — related items stay together instead of sitting in one long list.
- Consistent everywhere — the categories you set in klikit carry through to your connected delivery apps and Webshop.
How do I set up a category?
You can create and manage categories from the Menu tab in your klikit dashboard. Watch the short video above for a step-by-step walkthrough of creating a category.
Once your categories are created, you can control the order they appear in — see How do I sequence Categories, Items, and Modifiers in a menu? to arrange them.
My new category appears on one delivery app but not another
A category that publishes successfully to one channel but does not show up on another after the same Sync & Publish is not expected behaviour. It is not something you need to reconfigure on the delivery app's side.
Raise it with support. In most cases it turns out to be one of two things:
- an item or category visibility setting that is hiding it on that channel, or
- a modifier misconfiguration on one of the items in the category.
Tell us the category name, the branch, and which channel it is missing from, and we will check it.
If the publish itself reported an error rather than succeeding, see What do the menu publish statuses mean? first — that is a different problem with a different fix.
