A properly set up printer ensures your kitchen and front-of-house staff receive order dockets quickly and clearly.
Before you begin
- Your printer must be connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your Klikit tablet.
- Printer model must be an ESC/POS‑compatible thermal printer (e.g., Epson TM‑T88, Xprinter, Rongta).
- Keep the printer powered on and loaded with paper.
How to connect your printer
- Open the Klikit Store App on your tablet.
- Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.
- Select Printer Settings.
- Tap Add Printer.
- Choose your printer from the list of available devices on the network.
- If your printer doesn’t appear, ensure it’s on the same Wi‑Fi network and tap Scan Again.
- Give the printer a name (e.g., “Kitchen 1” or “Cashier”).
- Tap Test Print to confirm the connection. A small test docket should print.
- Tap Save.
Assign the printer to docket types
After adding a printer, you can choose which type of dockets it prints:
- Order Docket — prints when a new order is received
- Kitchen Docket — prints only food/beverage items for the kitchen
- Receipt — prints payment receipts
Tap on the printer name and toggle the docket types you want it to handle.
Fixing common issues
Print button missing If the “Print” button doesn’t appear on the order screen:
- Go to Settings > Printer Settings and confirm at least one printer is added.
- Ensure the printer is assigned to print “Order Docket.”
- Restart the Klikit app and check again.
Dockets printing twice (duplicate prints) Double prints usually happen because two printers are assigned the same docket type:
- Go to Settings > Printer Settings.
- Review each printer’s assigned docket types.
- Make sure only one printer is set to print each docket type per outlet. Uncheck duplicates.
- If you still see double prints, remove and re‑add the printers.
Receipt prints twice for the customer This often occurs when both a “Receipt” and an “Order Docket” are assigned to the same printer. Disable the “Order Docket” assignment on your receipt printer and only leave “Receipt” enabled.
Troubleshooting connection drops
- Check that the printer’s IP address hasn’t changed (some routers reassign IPs). In Klikit, remove the printer and add it again to refresh the connection.
- Restart your Wi‑Fi router and printer.
- Keep the printer firmware updated — refer to the printer manufacturer’s website for instructions.
