How Do I Stop Missing Delivery Orders When My Restaurant Runs Several Delivery Apps?
Short answer: stop running one tablet per app. Put every delivery app's orders into one queue with one alert sound, let orders auto-accept and auto-print where the app allows it, manage menus and stock in one place so sold-out items disappear from every app at once, and pause the store instead of ignoring orders when the kitchen is overwhelmed. An order aggregation platform such as klikit does all of this for GrabFood, foodpanda, ShopeeFood, GoFood, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and other delivery apps in Asia.
Why orders get missed
When a restaurant sells on three or four delivery apps, missed and cancelled orders usually come from the same few causes:
- Too many tablets. Each app has its own merchant tablet. During the rush, one of them is out of sight, out of battery or on silent.
- Alerts that never sound. A device's notification or media volume is down, or the phone's battery saver holds back the app's notifications.
- Orders left waiting. Delivery apps expect an order to be accepted quickly; an order nobody accepts in time can be cancelled.
- Stock out of sync. An item is sold out in the kitchen but still live on one app, so the order has to be cancelled after it arrives.
- A kitchen that can't keep up. Orders keep coming in while the kitchen is already behind, and the late ones get cancelled.
Five fixes
1. One queue for every app
Replace the separate tablets with one screen. In klikit, orders from every connected delivery app arrive in one Orders dashboard on the klikit for Business app or the web app, each labelled with the app it came from. Staff watch one device instead of four, and can filter by branch, brand, app or status.
2. One alert that is actually loud
New orders in klikit play a notification sound. Make sure it can be heard:
- Allow notifications for klikit on the device, and check sound is on for klikit itself, not just the device.
- On Android, check both media and notification volume: they are separate controls.
- On Xiaomi, Poco or Redmi devices, enable Autostart for klikit and set Battery saver to No restriction, or the phone may hold back order alerts.
- Keep the app open while you are trading. If the device speaker is too weak for a noisy kitchen, add an external speaker.
The full checklist is in our help article on setting up notifications.
3. Auto-accept and auto-print
Where a delivery app supports it, orders can be accepted automatically and a rider called as soon as the order is accepted (auto-ready). GrabFood, for example, uses a permanent auto-accept setting. klikit prints a docket when an order is accepted, on USB, Bluetooth or WiFi thermal printers and on Sunmi and iMin devices, so the kitchen sees every order on paper even if nobody is watching the screen.
4. Menus and stock in one place
Make klikit the single place where menus are edited and items are marked out of stock. The change goes to every connected app, so a dish that runs out at 8pm stops being sold everywhere, not just on the app someone remembered to update.
5. Slow down instead of falling behind
When the kitchen is overwhelmed, use busy mode to stop new orders for a short spell, or Pause Store to hide the outlet on the delivery apps until you switch it back. Fewer orders that all go out on time beats more orders that get cancelled.
Which tool suits which restaurant
| Situation | Good fit |
|---|---|
| Selling on GrabFood, foodpanda, ShopeeFood, GoFood or Deliveroo in Southeast Asia | klikit: one queue, auto-print, menu and stock sync, POS included |
| Several brands or outlets from one kitchen in Asia | klikit: one dashboard across brands and branches |
| Must keep an existing POS, selling across many countries | Deliverect, which feeds delivery orders into your current POS |
| Restaurant in the US on DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub | Otter or Chowly |
| Only a handful of delivery orders a day on one app | The app's own tablet, with the alert settings above |
Delivery apps klikit connects to
foodpanda, GrabFood, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, GoFood (Gojek), ShopeeFood, TikTok Shop, Maxim, Wolt and Demae-can. In Thailand, that means GrabFood and ShopeeFood. Phone and social-media orders can be added to the same dashboard, and orders from klikit's own webshop arrive there too.
