The place is an entire experience in itself – from the ambience to even the utensils. Having been featured in several TV programs in the country, the place has something to boast about. Swig and Nosh Kitchen + Bar is a spot that has unique takes on Filipino cuisine.

Swig and Nosh’s Chef Proprietor, Mr. Mario Mendoza, wanted the restaurant to not just serve good food, but create an unforgettable experience for its customers. He encourages people to come over and try their food as the Swig and Nosh experience is best felt in store.

Coming over? We highly recommend these three dishes that we can’t stop thinking about to this day (that’s how good they are).

Tinapa Fried Rice

""

A different take on our usual fried rice as it’s cooked with Tinapa flakes and generously topped with red onions, tomatoes, and salted egg. The dish itself is so rich in ingredients and flavors, that it can easily stand alone as a satisfying meal. For just PHP 300, we can assure that every bite of this dish is bursting with flavors.

Pork Cheek Kare-Kare

""

Usually, Filipino Kare-Kare is eaten with bagoong, but Swig and Nosh’s take on the dish is so good that you won’t need it (although you’re still welcome to take your Kare-Kare with it – it’s still good). The peanut sauce is rich and flavorful, and is paired perfectly with the Tinapa Fried Rice. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, and each bite of Pork Cheek was crispy. For just PHP 650, don’t miss out on ordering this good for 3-4 dish and we promise, you’ll come back wanting more.

Black Onyx Steak

""

One of Chef Mario’s most sought after dish is the Black Onyx Steak. Priced at PHP 770/100 grams, the steak is fatty and tender that it needs no knife cutting, and will simply melt in your mouth. Pair it with the chimichurri dip to elevate its flavor, or pour some of the oil back into the steak for added flavor. Though pricey, it’s clear that you’re paying for the quality and taste of the dish.

Fun fact: The term Swig came from the act of swigging (or drinking) in large amounts, and Nosh from the act of noshing (or chewing) enthusiastically. So what are you waiting for? Come swig and nosh over at Swig and Nosh Kitchen + Bar. Find them at 6, 1800 Mt. Pleasant Subdivision, Marikina City. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 9 am – 10 pm. For more information, visit Swig and Nosh’s Facebook Page.
